[First Ever] Road Trip Wednesday!

In honor of Valentine's Day (which I usually choose not to celebrate, despite my love of chocolate and stuffed creatures), I post some of my favorite literary romantic relationships.  Check out YA Highway!

Marcus Flutie and Jessica Darling - Jessica Darling Series (Megan McCafferty)

Beatrice and Benedick - Much Ado About Nothing (William Shakespeare)
Or Maybe I just love Emma Thompson and Kenneth Brannagh

I love Pride and Prejudice as much as the next girl.  And Mr. Darcy makes me happy all over.  However, I must say, I prefer the heart aching lost/regained love of Persuasion.  Both the book and movie (1995 please!) make me cry whenever I experience them (no matter how many times). Persuasion (Jane Austin)

And then there is the fierce passion of Mr Rochester and Jane Eyre.  Doesn't get any better than this (And who else is psyched for the movie!?) - Jane Eyre (Charlotte Bronte)

  1. Great minds think alike! I listed Persuasion and mentioned Jane Eyre. And Emma and Kenneth- I still wonder what happened there. I thought they were an amazing couple.
Sloppy Firsts is literally at the top of my TBR pile... I just need to find the time.
    Welcome to the road trip!

  3. I second your Pride and Prejudice and Jane Eyre choices. I've never read Megan McCafferty, but I've been meaning to.

  4. Ahhh, Beatrice and Benedict, Anne and Wentworth, Jane and Mr. Rochester... Now that I know we have similar taste, I need to look into the Jessica Darling series. :)

  7. Good picks! Pride and Prejudice is great, but you're right about there being something extremely special about Persuasion. It's so powerful in its quietness.

  11. Thanks for the affirmation everyone. And thanks so much Hannah! People should definitely check out the Jessica Darling series. Jessica kicks butt with her brilliance, witticism, and introspection. Marcus is also pretty awesome.

  13. I am so excited for the Jane Eyre I can hardly stand it, It looks like they nailed it. I hope so. Nothing makes my day better than a period drama...and bonus if it's literary!

  14. Is that Russel Crowe?! OMG! I love Jane Eyre! I need to read it again for one of my projects. Who is playing Jane? When's this movie coming out? I'm so out of the loop it is pathetic. I all know is when the latest Barbie movie is coming out. Ralph.

  15. Ah yes, favorite literary characters… I could go on for days! LoL

I’ll make mine though short and simple. Like you I love Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth, but I loved the movie with Kera Knightly, to me she just makes a great period actress. Also I loved Victoria and Albert from Young Victoria (movie I know).

Just a quick note to say: You have an award waiting for you at my blog, The Write Words!
